The Path was inspired by the angular and perforated textures of the Museum's shell designed by Herzog & de Meuron, alongside the natural elements of Golden Gate Park. In the Kimball Gallery, adjacent to the community installation, children, families, interns and-through a glass wall-visitors outside, watched while I created a textured maize of delicate fragments and filaments. They observed and walked through it, each making their own way.

The de Young Museum brings working artists into the museum setting, giving the community access to the artistic process. Working together with children and interns, the length of the Kimball Education Gallery filled with individually created strands that together created an inspired and vibrant piece. Their process included a walking experience, and a reflective creation uniquely their own. Torn paper strips and the artists' strands of fishing wire embellished with colorful objects composed Drawing in Space, a reflection of San Francisco's hills, streets, and the movement of her sailboats and birds.
